POlitical Parties
Party members—who number some 80 million nationwide, or about 6 percent of the population—hold almost all top posts in the government, military, and internal security services, as well as in many economic entities and social organizations. This means that it is mainly only higher up people of society who are in political parties.
There are three kinds of political parties: Major, Minor, and Suppressed. The Major Party is the one that carries the most seats in the People's Political Consultative Conference. The top minor party is considered "second" to the major party. And all of the other parties, that are legal, are the rest of the minor parties. Suppressed parties are those that are actively suppressed in the People's Republic of China. Due to the censorship and suppression of the Chinese government, they most likely have their headquarters outside the mainland. Most suppressed parties are declared illegal.

Since 1949, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been the ruling political organization in China. The party plays a large role in formulating government policy and supervising the execution of them at all levels of administration. Party supervision is maintained through the placement of CCP members in important government posts and through specialized sections of the central committee of the CCP (their focus is on subjects like propaganda or rural work). The Chinese Communist Party also has ties to individual government units, factories, communes, schools, shops, neighborhoods, and military units. The political Party has a broad influence across the country.
China's political parties are different than the United States'. Their political parties control all of the activities and policies. The United States, though political parties still have power, political parties are more decentralized. Also, the Unites States does not have suppressed political parties.
There are similarities however. Both the United States have minor parties and one or two major parties.
